Welcome to the Wissahickon Valley Public Library! Your library card entitles you to use the main library at 650 Skippack Pike in Blue Bell and the Ambler Branch (215-646-1072) at 209 Race Street in Ambler as well as public libraries that participate in the Access Pennsylvania Statewide Library Card System.
In order to borrow materials from the library you must present your library card when checking out. Your library card is not transferable and may only be used by the person to whom it is issued. You are responsible for all items borrowed with your card. Each family member living or working in the Wissahickon School District is entitled to his or her own library card. Lost cards should be reported promptly to avoid having materials charged to your card. The replacement fee for lost cards is $1.00.
In addition to books we have materials in a variety of formats to meet your information needs. The following is a list of the library media types and their loan periods:
Books 28 days (new fiction: 7 or 14 days)
Books on Tape: 14 days
Books on CD 14 days
Compact discs: 14 days
Video cassettes: 3 days
DVD's 3 days
Magazines (back issues): 7 days
Most items may be renewed once per circulation, if there are no current reserves on them. Items may be renewed by telephone only when the library is open. Items may be renewed on the library's web site by clicking on Catalog on the home page. Click on My Account. The system will ask for the bar code number from your borrower's card. After entering your bar code number and logging in, click on Checked Out. A display of the items you have checked out will appear. Click next to the items that want to renew. Finally, click on the word Renew at the top or bottom of the column.
The current overdue fine rate is 15 cents per day for each children’s book and 20 cents per day for each adult book. The overdue fine for video cassettes is $1.00 per day per item. Persons who lose or damage library materials beyond repair will be charged the retail price of the items plus a process fee. You may use the book drop to return books (but not audio-visual items because of the risk of damage) when the library is closed. Books that are in circulation may be reserved.
All items except videos and DVD's may be reserved through the on-line Catalog as well. Click on the Catalog at the home page and click on Search. Navigate to the item that you want to reserve and click on Request Item. Follow the screen prompts.
Our staff is here to assist you. Please do not hesitate to ask for help. We are glad to have you as a member of the Wissahickon Valley Public Library.
